My congratulatory message to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Diocesan Boys’ School.
Hong Kong is again amidst turbulent and divisive times. But we have seen worse, yet came through more resilient and ready to meet new challenges and to do our part for Hong Kong, and China as a whole.
We are fortunate that wisdom and compassion have always underpinned our education whilst diversity and plurality made us strong, the better to serve and lead this community of ours.

DBS at 150
Congratulations to DBS on our 150th Anniversary.
This is a fitting time to look back in gratitude, to give thanks to God and men for making this great institution what we are today.
DBS played an important role in our formative years, and even now, nearly six decades on, is still a focus in our social life. This is a testament to the strength of the DBS spirit.
We pray that DBS will, in the years to come, continue to be a home and refuge for those fortunate enough to be part of this happy family.
This is also a fitting time to look forward.
We are one of the oldest secondary schools in Hong Kong; but never forget that we are also one of the oldest in all of China.
In this dual capacity, DBS is blessed to have played a not insignificant role not only in the development of Hong Kong, but also in China’s search for a national narrative.
We are confident that young men will continue to join DBS to gain in wisdom and compassion, and depart, as upright gentlemen, ready, each in their own way, to serve their country and their kind.
